Turtle Rock’s Newest Title is “Incredible” and “Wild”

The very name of Left 4 Dead often conjures up stories of incredible AI (“I swear, the Director was just waiting for me!”) and a mass of frustration (“Hunter! Hunter! Hunter! …nevermind, I found him.”) It also propels people into a state of bliss, imagining some fun times online and offline.

Well, it’s time for Turtle Rock to wow us yet again under the wings of THQ. In an interview with Eurogamer at E3, THQ Core Games Boss Danny Bilson spilled a bean or two on the upcoming FPS title from Turtle Rock. Details, as usual, are incredibly vague and sparse, but at least it’s a tiny little bone we’re getting.

“It’s incredible,” said Bilson. “It’s an incredible design. I can’t wait till we share the concepts of that game, because there is some gameplay in there I’ve never played before.”

What exactly does that mean, we’re not sure. Since it’s Turtle Rock, we should be ready to expect anything, and we should expect it to be done extremely well. “Those guys [Turtle Rock] are really smart. They were the Left 4 Dead team and that was fun,” said Bilson. “This one’s wild. I can’t wait to share that one. People are going to go nuts. It’s the most well-thought out design from the beginning I’ve ever seen.”

Is it all just hype right now? Maybe so, but Bilson is convinced that once properly revealed, the game will blow everyone’s mind away. “Everybody, when they hear that design, unanimously, they just go, wow,” Bilson said. “I promise you’ll do the same when you hear what that game is.”

All THQ has to do is help publish the game, due out in 2013. “It’s our job to resource that properly so they can make it to the highest quality,” Bilson said. “That’s all we can do. Those guys are really smart.”

Can’t wait for it? Neither can we. Mr. Bilson has confirmed that a proper reveal will be due out this year, but has not specified a time frame. So what can you do to one-up your own masterpiece? Be extremely…extreme.

Alas, it sucks to wait.
