According to VideoGamer we may be having our first glimpses of the a new Xbox console at next year’s E3 conference. Though unconfirmed, the new console has been dubbed the Xbox 720 and is apparently taking advantage of Microsoft’s DirectX 11 soffware & Crytek’s CryEngine 3.
Timesplitters 4 appears to be one of the first games debuting on both Microsoft’s and Sony’s next generation consoles. Being developed by CryTek UK (who produced the other three) it will have greater visuals than the current generation of console titles.
CryTek let slip the information recently, and believe that Microsoft will have their new console revealed in the next 12 months, with an E3 announcement likely. They also suggest that Microsoft will announce their new console ahead of their rival Sony, who are also working on the successor of the PlayStation 3.
It has also been revealed that the WiiU will also take advantage of CryEngine 3, cementing Nintendo as a developer of next generation and (finally) full HD games.
Though unconfirmed by Microsoft, this is big news and sets next year’s E3 as an event that shouldn’t be missed.
