Who doesn’t love to recreate beloved characters in their own vision? Since Devil May Cry debuted on the PlayStation 2 back in 2001, we’ve been graced with a game that gave us stylish guns and swordplay while leaping from chandeliers without killing ourselves. Like any self-respecting game with a healthy fan base, it also gave us a lot of fan art to look at.
What better way to celebrate than to ask fans to submit some of that art and have it featured in an upcoming game? In the latest blog post on Capcom-Unity, Capcom is asking fans to submit their artistic renditions of their favorite characters from the series.
“It has been 10 years since Dante exploded onto screens across the world and set the benchmark for action games, intricate combat, incredibly stylish fighting and the use of pizza within cutscenes,” said the post. “To celebrate the decade of devil hunting we’re holding an art competition and we want you to display your talents in creating some of the best Devil May Cry fan art ever!
“Think about all the iconic characters from Dante, Nero, Vergil, Trish and Lady and all the fantastic weapons they have wielded. Think of the bosses and many battles Dante has had to cleave his way through. And most of all think of the style that all this has been done in, from Dante’s cockiness to Sparda’s impeccable honor!”
Think you’ve got the artistic chops to handle the competition? Winners will have their artwork featured in “a new, to be announced Capcom game,” and will also receive a copy of said project. We don’t know what this project is yet, since Capcom is calling it a “secret game.” The competition deadline is set as July 29th, which is exactly two weeks away.
