Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 Rumoured For Comic-Con 2011
The fighting game community are all dancing in a conga line this morning, following the anonymous tip off about the nature of Ryota Niitsuma’s conference slot at Comic Con this year. Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 looks set to be announced on July 23rd, at the Marvel vs Capcom panel.
Utilising a similar marketing strategy to that of Capcom’s other premier fighting game, Super Street Fighter IV, the game is said to retail around the $40 mark, and add a further 12 characters to the already impressive roster of 38. Those of any numerical disposition can then calculate the new number of characters available, but because I’m a walking-talking spoiler, I’ll tell you now: 50. No news on who exactly will help make up the field, but the Frank West and Dr Octopus data already found on the original MvC3 disc suggests that those two would be safe bets. Personally, I think there’d be nothing better than Phoenix Wright, Vergil from Devil May Cry 3 and Carnage, and I’m crossing every toe and finger in the hope Capcom realise my dreams.
Capcom’s ethic when it comes to DLC has always been questionable, and fans are likely to be angered by the decision to release a further retail title upgrade to milk the die hard of their hard-earned cash, but providing there are more than just extra characters on the cards, the anger won’t exceed boiling point. Fans often moan about the lack of a theatre mode in-game, and I’m sure that’s a feature likely to be implemented in Ultimate MvC3. No doubt there will be tweaks aplenty in the search for balance – Sentinel already received a bit of a nerfing early in the game’s life cycle, but we can but hope for further neutering of the mutant exterminator.
