Griffons, Chimeras, Harpies, Oh My: The Many Beasts of Dragon’s Dogma
Don’t move, or the Griffon gets it. Fantasy seems to be the most popular theme everywhere these days, with a healthy diet of swords, armor, and magic due out in the upcoming months. Dragon’s Dogma is no different…or is it? Capcom’s latest IP will be storming onto the scene in early 2012, hoping to take the fantasy-RPG crown amidst the skirmish between Skyrim, Reckoning, and Dark Souls, to name a few.
So what sets this little gem apart from everybody else? For one, it’s focus will be more combat oriented as opposed to number-crunching. There’s loot to be had, and there’s also going to be a lot of monsters, but everyone likes a good old-fashioned medieval butt-whooping.
It won’t be your typical diet of beasts either. From every mythos available, Capcom is promising to bring to life even the most obscure creatures from the corners of ancient Nordic mythology, and maybe even a healthy side portion of Celtic mythology.
Don’t believe it? Feast your eyes on some new screenshots with shiny metal and bloody splotches, spotted in the wild:
Dragon’s Dogma will be taking flight in 2012 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
