Noobs, Rejoice: Gears of War 3 to Have a “Casual Mode”

23 Jul, 2011

Scared to play online, but want to get your feet wet? How about doing that with blockbuster Gears of War 3? That’s some really good incentive to get into the multiplayer scene.

While some of us are anxious to step into the big scary world of online play, Epic Games is hoping to give the faint of heart a gentle nudge in that direction. During the Gears of War 3 panel at Comic-Con yesterday, the announcement was made that Gears 3 will feature a “casual mode” for players who have never set controllers on the Gears series before.

How they plan on monitoring that is a complete mystery, but if any achievements are linked to your profile from previous Gears or Gears 2 gameplay, then you can’t get into the Casual multiplayer modes. The only other detail that have been confirmed is that casual players will be given some aim assist.

Sounds like a great deal to those who are wanting to delve into the Gears universe, but we can’t help but wonder if people are already plotting ways to get around the gate. And what if you’ve played Gears and Gears 2 and are complete rubbish at multiplayer?

Looks like we’ll have to wait for more details in the near future.

Gears of War 3 is set to land on September 20th for the Xbox 360.
