We honestly can’t get enough of hooded killers, and we can’t deny that assassins do it with impeccable style. Ubisoft keeps piling on the love as well, and today they’re giving us even more reason to buy a copy of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations in either the Collector’s Edition or the Animus Edition.
Earlier today, Ubisoft announced Assassin’s Creed Embers, a short CG animation developed by UbiWorkshop and will be made available as part of the Collector’s and Animus Editions of the game. It will also be available for download on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network if you so choose to not buy the big heavy boxes. Embers will presumably expand on the final chapter in Ezio’s life, but details on that are currently under wraps.
But what exactly are the perks of buying either editions? For one, there’s a lot of in-game content like cool new duds, a soundtrack, and an art book. Here’s a breakdown of the standard Collector’s Edition:
- Art book: features 50 pages of illustrations and concept art that relates to the game.
- Original game soundtrack: Jesper Kyd returns to bring us more of his epic style.
- Assassin’s Creed Embers: an animated short CG film developed by UbiWorkshop.
- An extra mission will be available, allowing players to explore the prison of Vladamir Drakulya (that one really famous Impaler guy? Yeah, the one who stuck a whole bunch of commonfolk on stakes outside his castle), or better known as the guy who spawned the entire mythos of Dracula. Ubisoft has said that in Vlad’s cell, you’ll find his personal weapon, a dagger that can kill anybody.
- Two additional multiplayer characters will become accessible: the Crusader and the Ottoman Jester, an updated version of the Harlequin.
If you’re wondering what’s in the Animus Edition, here’s a breakdown of that one too:
- In-depth encyclopaedia: yes, an actual physical encyclopaedia that features entries on the characters, events, and other things of importance when it comes to Assassin’s Creed.
- Assassin’s Creed Embers
- The Animus Edition will still come with the mission to search Drakulya’s cell.
- Weapon upgrades: there will be more capacity available to you for the hidden gun, bombs, and crossbow arrows.
- Brutus’ Armor from Brotherhood will be available.
- The Crusader and the Ottoman Jester will be available as multiplayer characters as well.
