Didn’t get a 3DS back in March when it first launched? Perhaps this will strike your fancy. Nintendo has just announced that they’ll be dropping the price for the 3DS worldwide. At launch, the unit was priced at $249.00, but Nintendo has said that starting on August 12th the price will drop to $169.99 in the U.S. Similar cuts will be happening across the globe in Japan, Europe, and Australia.
Original buyers are probably getting a little angry right now, since Nintendo promised some great things coming on the handheld system. With the $80 pricetag difference, you really can’t blame them because nothing great has really come up. Don’t worry though, because you’re about to get some free stuff that will hopefully stem your disappointment.
People who bought (and maybe might still buy) the 3DS before this date will be given a chance to download 10 NES games from the eShop for free before everybody else does. Titles will include Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Jr., Balloon Fighter, Ice Climber, and The Legend of Zelda. Ten Game Boy Advance titles will also be included in the freebie package, among them being: Yoshi’s Island, Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$, and Mario vs. Donkey Kong. All of these freebies to early adopters will be available before the end of the year, but hopefully Nintendo won’t wait too long. Otherwise there might be pitchforks in the near future.
With the package of 20 old school games for the price of free, some gamers might say it’s enough, but others might argue otherwise. As of right now, it’s the only compensation Nintendo is offering to early adopters.
