In direct opposition to Blizzard’s Diablo 3, the guys from Runic have tweeted; ‘#Torchlight2 will still support mods, LAN play, and will be a one time purchase. :)’. This is great news for fans of both the original Torchlight, but also those Diablo fans who have lost faith with Blizzard over their recent announcements concerning Diablo 3.
Torchlight 2 still follows the same gameplay as it’s predecessor, but Runic has added much more to the overall package. Featuring several hub-towns, overland areas and a longer campaign, the game is shaping up to be a much more enjoyable and complete experience from the original.
Though a solid release date has yet to be announced, Runic have claimed that it will be available ‘sometime in 2011′. Considering their stance as an alternative to Diablo 3, I wouldn’t be surprised if the release dates coincide.
