Bethesda threatens Notch

Bethesda threatens Notch

6 Aug, 2011

Notch and his Mojang crew are working on a new fantasy-based card game, named Scrolls. The game is yet to be given a release date.

Apparently Bethesda do not like this one bit, and have accused Notch (Markus Persson) of infringing the Elder Scrolls trademark. Notch commented on twitter:

“They claim ‘Scrolls’ infringes on their trademark and everyone will confuse it with Skyrim.”

Notch also gave fans a peek at the document, showing just a brief section of the 15-page cease and desist letter.

Notch still says he “<3 Bethesda" and hoped it was just lawyers doing their thing.

When questioned by Eurogamer, Bethesda issued a solid “no comment”.
