While most of the greatest gaming conventions happen in either the United Kingdom or the state of California, once every year nerds of the Pacific Northwestern region of the United States are given the chance to go to their own little convention. We don’t mean “little” in the literal way either. The Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) Prime has substantially grown over the last few years, even taking over most of downtown Seattle last year.
This time is no different. With some of the biggest and most anticipated titles set to release this coming October and November, the official schedule for PAX is starting to look like a Who’s Who of the gaming world.
Announced earlier today, the schedule tells us there’s going to be a lot of fainting gamers as footage will be shown of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, Darksiders II, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and other hotly anticipated titles. And before you ask the inevitable, this year’s theme is Halo Fest to celebrate Halo‘s 10th Anniversary and the handing of the reigns to 343 Industries.
Want to know the highlights? Here they are in all their abbreviated glory. They really don’t need any explanation, because they really are too awesome for that.
PAX Prime 2011 August 26th – 28th
PAX Prime 2011 Keynote: It will be delivered by David Jaffe, best known for his work on the God of War and Twisted Metal franchises. We’re off to a good start already.
Halo: Anniversary Panel: The team in charge of the remastering of Halo is going to give fans a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to do it right.
Rooster Teeth Panel: Do you like RvB? The team behind the creation of Red vs. Blue, RT Shorts, and other side-splitting hilarity share their stories and try to make us LMAO.
Darksiders II Panel: Vigil Games explores what do you do to make your sequels bigger and better than the original, and how to deal with games that are great, but are ultimately overshadowed.
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Panel: Well, it’s not really a panel. It’s going to be a one man panel, if that’s the case. Game Director Todd Howard takes the reigns and will be giving a live demo on the Xbox 360 for attendees.
Halo Universe Panel: Meet the people who have brought Halo to life for the last 10 years, including Master Chief (well, his actor, not Master Chief himself), and key members of 343i and Bungie.
Assssin’s Creed: Revelations Panel: If you want to call a panel a “sit down and try not to bust out with excitement” session, then this would be it. Ubisoft will be presenting never-before-seen gameplay of Ezio’s journey to Constantinople, and will include a guest presentation by Tobuscus.
Irrational Games Panel: The head honcho of Irrational Ken Levine, the voice of Booker DeWitt, and the voice of Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite sit down and discuss how to bring the player into emotional relationships with the characters, and how do you convey the relationship between the characters themselves.
If you thought that was enough to get you excited, then you haven’t even seen the half of it. With an Exhibition Hall fit to burst with all sorts of playable demos, swag, and cosplay, PAX Prime is going to be one hell of an event this year.
Can’t make the event yourself? GGS Gamer has got you covered! Keep checking back for the latest updates, previews, and all other assorted geekery!
