Bethesda Forum Hacked again

Bethesda Forum Hacked again

14 Aug, 2011

Yup. It would seem that ‘hackers’ are still attacking game developers and their associated websites. Early on Friday Bethesda’s official forums were compromised, prompting them to inform users earlier today that they were resetting their passwords as a precaution.

As one rockpapershotgun user pointed out; it’s not that having your forum password reset is such a bad thing, it’s that in many cases people use the same password for several accounts, including credit cards and online stores. Considering how easy it is to figure out someone’s online identity (especially if you’ve got their full name and address) it is possible that hackers could use this stolen information to do some serious harm.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the breach. Considering how Lulsec were taken down, they’d be wise to keep themselves unknown.
