So this image was posted a few days ago, and I’ve been keeping an eye on the news feed for any information that Blizzard deigned to reveal over this weekend. Sadly nothing has been forthcoming, but fortunately one thing lore-obsessed World of Warcraft fan (*cough* like myself) are good at is dissecting the small morsels Blizzard throw at our feet.
For those of you not versed in Wow-lore, the three guys above are Ethereals. A race of void dwelling smugglers and traders that were popular in the second World of Warcraft expansion: The Burning Crusade.
Some players have suggested that this is preview for patch 4.3, with the possibility of being set somewhere in Outlands. Hopeful people have pointed to the possibility of Outlands being redone, but I’m going to go ahead a shoot this down on account of how big the area is and the sheer amount of time that would take; especially just for a patch.
My guess is that the new patch will feature an area heavily inspired by Outlands, as the Ethereals suggest. Their weird titles have prompted much discussion, with the idea that Blizzard are perhaps implementing further character customisation.
However, such rampant speculation about a single screenshot is self-destructive and will no doubt lead to disappointment. No doubt Blizzard will give a further update over the coming week.
