New Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Trailer Storms Into View

15 Aug, 2011

You remember Counter-Strike? You remember that big reveal from Valve about Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, right? Well wonder no more what this is all about, because just ahead of the giant Gamescom convention touching down in Germany, Valve has released a trailer to give us a glimpse into their next release.

A select few reviewers were given a chance to touch the shiny new title, and according to CVG, what they saw was impressive. Graphics and animation have both been vastly improved since the original released for the PC in 1999.

“It didn’t feel like 1.6 and despite being built on the Source engine, it didn’t feel like CSS,” said ESEA News. “By design, Valve wanted to create a game with a different feel, and overall it was really smooth. The pro players seemed surprisingly happy with the player movement and feel of the game but thankfully they weren’t short of feedback and most weren’t shy to share it. Tweaks and adjustments are needed, but in my opinion, it was a great sign that it didn’t grossly offend anyone.”

Based on a Half-Life mod, Counter-Strike has since gone on to win a lot of acclaim and has sold more than 25 million units since its debut. Are you ready for the next chapter in Counter-Strike? Check out the trailer for Global Offensive:

Nice little glimpse into what’s to come. Now, if Valve would kindly begin work on Half-Life 3, life would be complete.
