Community Q: Game Tunes Out of Context

Community Q: Game Tunes Out of Context

18 Aug, 2011

Welcome to our weekly Community Q!

Once a week we flip the tables and listen to what you guys have to say . . . rather than sitting back and make you listen to us!

Community Q: Ther have been some great video game soundtracks that have stoked all kinds of emotion in our souls when playing. Whether it is the crecendos of Final Fantasy after a battle, or the futuristic electronica of Mass Effect, game music can make or break a title. But when the gaming is done, have you found yourself humming the tracks while at work, or pumping them out of your car stereo while driving to work? Let us know about how you have listened to your game music out of the context of the game.

Tell us your opinion – and your reasons behind it – right here in the comments! Or how about joining our forums and talking about it over there? :)

Got an idea for a future Community Q question? Drop us a line and tell us about it!

I like listening to the Assassin’s Creed soundtracks, all three of them (so far) because it’s got that right blend of relaxing ambient music mixed in with the drum beats that gets me ready for the day. Can’t get enough of it.

  2. While not a true gaming soundtrack, I do find it amusing that whenever I hear “I Ran” by Flock of Seagulls, I immediately think I should be outrunning the cops, a la Vice City. For me, it is always Mass Effect when it comes to jamming to a soundtrack in my car. The first one is still the gold standard.
