With the growing trends in social gaming and mobile gaming, it’s no surprise that some of consoles’ biggest publishing names want in on the action too. Earlier today, Namco Bandai announced that it would be partnering with Japan’s social gaming powerhouse DeNA. Their goal? To bring some quality gaming to smartphone players worldwide.
Now called BDNA Inc., the new company will begin operations starting on October 1st of this year. The company said that this partnership will “broaden their existing relationship.” While they’re looking to broaden their relationship, we’re hoping that maybe there will be some decent social games coming out. With DeNA’s smarts in the social gaming market and Namco Bandai’s gaming development knowledge, it’s sounding like a good match on paper.
Executive Vice President of Namco Bandai Shin Unozawa will become BDNA’s new head honcho. Other key staff members will include Hirotaka Reizei, the division manager of production at Namco Bandai, and Isao Moriyasu, the president and representative director of DeNA.
Does this mean we’ll see more mobile games like last year’s smash iOS hit Infinity Blade? We hope so, because that would make frustrating commutes worldwide seem a lot less frustrating.
