New NBA 2K12 Developer Insights Post Looks at Art Direction

1 Sep, 2011

Ronnie 2K, the NBA guru over at 2K Sports, has put together another Developers Insights column for NBA 2K12, this time focusing on Art Direction. The idea behind the art direction in NBA 2K12 is getting the eras of the Legendary players just right. This means adding things like filters to create grainy black and white imagery, or the interlaced live TV effect of the 1980′s. They are also putting a lot of work into the likenesses of both past and present players, and even in a hint of things to come, adding minute details like Tattoo art to prominent players.

The column also looks at crowd interaction and mascot interaction around the court, with more animations for the front row crowd, and even the ability for players to interact with the crowd. If you are interested in the NBA 2K franchise, you owe it to yourself to check out the column from this link. We also have a couple of screens from the game below.

NBA 2K12 is set for an October 5th, 2011 release on just about every platform but the Mac and mobile phones from 2K Sports.
