Looks like the Steam trading beta was a success, as earlier today Valve announced the launch of Steam Trading. Don’t get too excited just yet though — trading is liited to in-game items and gifts with other members of the Steam community.
If you were looking to trade copies of a second hand game, you’re out of luck: Valve was quick to point that out. However, they have provided a inventory of what you can trade, as well as a FAQ that explains just about everything about Steam Trading.
Whether you’ll be able to swap games in the future remains to be seen. For now, Valve has said that they are “working with other developers to incorporate Trading and Inventories into their games.”
