According to a game’s teaser site from Square Enix, it’s going to be a brand new title for Hell. This game looks like it won’t be your typical game of magic-wielding crazy-haired college kids or stoic military men.
It’s a step away from Square Enix’s usual fare, and this time they’re going straight to Hell with it. After some trial and error (and perhaps a little cheating too), the combination of the words “Die or Die” lead to a mysterious flash game, complete with flying imps holding all sorts of pointy objects. When finished with the game, we’re greeted wtih this guy’s incredibly ugly (and kinda freaky) mug:
While it’s not Fatal Frame caliber, it’s enough to unsettle some of us. If somebody like Konami (or even Grasshopper Manufacture) was behind the crazy demon-imp flash game and the image of perhaps Death, we probably wouldn’t be as surprised, but Square Enix?
Perhaps their publishing of Dead Island in the States has made them more curious about the dark side of the world. It was recently discovered that the developer also trademarked the terms “Army Corps of Hell” and “Demon’s Score.” With Tokyo Game Show going into full swing next week, we’re expecting something coming out of Square Enix about this teaser site and their mysterious trademarking.
Until then, we’ll just have to move away from this guy and pretend we didn’t see him.
