Rod Abernethy is not a hugely known name in the industry. It’s not as recognizable as Ken Levine, Cliff Bleszinski, or David Jaffe. One thing is for sure — you’ve played some of the games he’s worked on. Dead Space and Alpha Protocol starts off the list of this man’s impressive resume that spans both the video game industry and also TV and movies.

With his style of traditional orchestral pieces mixed in with electronica and techno sounds, what better way to showcase Abernethy’s talent again than by composing for id Software’s Rage? Acoustic guitars, sweeping orchestral backdrops, and heavy industrial sounds will be some of the things you’ll be hearing as you navigate through the wastelands.

id Software is definitely happy with their decision, as Abernethy’s style will fit into the grittiness of Rage. “Rod has created an authentic music palette for Rage and delivered a unique score that elevates the immersive quality of our game,” said creative director Tim Willits.

“Rod has an uncanny ability to take a hint of an idea and make it flourish into a fully formed composition that adds the final layer of polish, helping to bridge the gap from a game to a complete cinematic experience,” said audio lead Christian Antkow.

Rage is set to tour the wastelands on October 4th for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
