Nintendo 3DS Goes Back on Top in Japan

23 Sep, 2011

The portable fights of Godzilla porportions continue between Sony and Nintendo in Japan. According to data from the sales tracking firm Media Create, the 3DS moved more than 58,000 units in the past week. Strangely enough, only one 3DS software title was in the Top 10. Three guesses as to which one that was, and the first two don’t count.

While the 3DS remains strong in Japan at this point, reports and feedback from industry analysts say that the little portable system won’t meet expectations at all. As Sony gears up for its PS Vita launch, many are starting to ask if the 3DS is really worth it.

In an attempt to revive interest in their system, Nintendo recently announced a heavy lineup of games to come for the handheld at their pre-TGS press conference. Among the titles are Monster Hunter 4 and 3GS from Capcom, Super Mario 3d Land, and Mario Kart 7.

Will you be picking up a 3DS this holiday season, or will you be giving it another pass?
