Pigs have flown, Hell hath frozen over and the Detroit Lions could win the super bowl. This means only one thing – Star Wars The Old Republic has been given a release date, and it is actually coming in 2011. Yes, the long in development MMORPG title has now been marked for a December 20th, 2011 release.
I have watched this game move throw a long development cycle and watched it at the past three to four E3 shows and was wondering if it would ever actually see the light of day. There has been a ton of money put behind this release and we do know that it will have a huge install with tons of voice work and a core single player story experience, wrapped around an MMO genre title.
I have no doubt that this title will sell like gangbusters when it hits, but I am still sitting on the fence when it comes to this title. I want it to be good and I want it to be the MMORPG that convinces me to drop money, but I really wish this was KOTOR 3 rather than the never ending MMORPG title that it will become.
So, who is down for The Old Republic when it hits in December this year?

I guess this will give me something to do until Diablo 3 releases in 2012.
I want to like this game, I really do. And I loved the response to the KOTOR 3 question at E3 this year. “We made not only KOTOR 3 with this game, but KOTOR 4, 5, 6 and beyond with this title” – ugh.
