Happy Birthday to one of the most beloved franchises in all gaming. While it’s had its share of ups and downs, the Castlevania series has seen it all. From 2D killer action, some of the most memorable tunes, to a monstrously delightful and epic 3D experience, this vampire-killing series is a trip down Memory Lane for many a hardcore gamer.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow producer David Cox reassured fans that were celebrating the momentous anniversary that the series is in great health, and won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. Being resurrected as many times as Dracula has been tends to do that to you.
“Today is the 25th anniversary of Castlevania,” said Cox in his Twitter feed. “Some would say the series is in decline but the fact is it’s never been in better shape.”
Good, because die-hard fans never want to see cursed nights disappear forever. Someone’s gotta pick up a whip and kill all the creatures, right? “The future is assured,” said Cox. “Castlevania will never die. The series is evolving and bringing in new fans, reaching larger audiences.”
While Symphony of the Night still holds the title of being the most critically acclaimed (and beloved) title in the series, the recent Lords of Shadow has proven that Castlevania can indeed be translated from two-dimensions into the three-dimensional realm with great results.
Don’t worry, we’re sure that David Cox won’t be letting us down anytime soon. While no official announcement of a Lords of Shadow sequel have come about, many of us are praying that it will happen.
