Love it or hate it, PC Gamer is one of the most successful PC gaming magazines still on the market today. However, any print magazine is looking at ways to continue to be relevant in a future where print is an endangered species. One of those options has become a reality today with the official launch of PC Gamer Digital on Steam.
This new version of PC Gamer will not supplant the print magazine, but seems to work out as more of a compliment, using the technology available with a digital product to produce new features and ways to display content. In the first issue, you will have an interactive session of Deus Ex Human Revolution where three editors play a sequence of the game in three different ways, a direct it yourself interview for Red Orchestra II and a guide that takes you through the nuances of graphical settings and what they mean.
Each issue of PC Gamer Digital will cost $1.99 and new issues will be coming on a weekly basis. I can’t say if I will be buying this on a weekly basis, but I might look into a few issues to see some of the content. Future US, publisher of PC Gamer Digital also needs to find a way to offer up a subscription model in the long run in order to be successful.
