Playing Battlefield 3 on Unofficial Servers? We Just Heard a Banhammer Hitting You

4 Oct, 2011

DICE isn’t going to be pulling any punches when it comes to the beta of Battlefield 3. If you think you can get away with playing a session on an unofficial server, think again, because your Origin account is about to get hardcore banned.

In a recent post on the Battlelog forums, a DICE representative who goes by the screenname of “Bazajaytee” cautions players who are seen playing on servers that “are running game modes and player counts that have not currently been seen.” “Please try to remain on official servers,” says the post.

The warning continues on, urging players to avoid “temptation” and to remain on official servers only while the others are properly “dealt with.” “Playing on those servers can cause your account to become compromised, stats to be altered or other issues to arise which may lead to having your account banned by EA,” reads the post. “If your accont gets banned it does mean any EA game you have on your account would also be unavailable.”

Just don’t play on unofficial servers.

The beta for Battlefield 3 is available until October 10th. The full retail game will be available on October 25th for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
