Not A Joke: Bungie Four-Faction MMO Rumors Confirmed?

5 Oct, 2011

Remember when Bungie accidentally let slip they might be working on an MMO and then they passed it off as a bad joke? Well, about that…

Supposedly, the November 2011 issue of Playstation: Official Magazine UK has this interesting tidbit in their rumors section: “Uber-developer Bungie’s next game is a faction-based MMOG called Destiny.”

Back in May, TheDailyJoypad reported there will be four factions in Bungie’s secret project: ‘Seven Seraphs’, ‘New Monarchy’, ‘Osiris’ and ‘Dead Orbit’. They also claimed one of the faction insignia can be seen in a Penny Arcade TV video from back in May.

As a huge fan of the Halo series, and especially its story, these Bungie MMO rumors are quite intriguing. However, only time and more information will tell whether they can pull it off. With several “promising” MMO’s being released, but never really being able to match WoW’s success, it’ll take a truly earth-shattering effort to be the next WoW. I’ve beta tested and played a lot of MMO’s, and I’ll be frank. Most of them are terrible. Not just bad, but gut wrenchingly boring. WoW was pretty fun, and Eve Online has its moments, but the rest are just awful.

Bungie is probably near the top of that very short list of developers that could actually pull off a decent MMO.
