Back when Red Dead Redemption first arrived on the scene, gamers everywhere rejoiced. Except for PC gamers. Ever since the release of Rockstar’s incredible western shoot-out adventure last Spring, PC players have been chomping at the bit for their chance to experience John Marston’s story.
A recent post on Rockstar’s blog stated that while all games are considered for release across all platforms — PC, Xbox, and PlayStation — sometimes it “is just not the case 100% of the time for all platforms.” L.A. Noire has been confirmed for PC this fall, and Max Payne 3 has already been confirmed for the platform. So why no Red Dead?
“We do know that, yes, there is just one title absent from our PC release plans – that game of course being Red Dead Redemption, and of course we’re well aware that some fans have been asking for it,” said the blog. “All we can say is that whenever it is viable (technically, developmentally and business-wise) for us to release a game for PC (or any other particular platform) – we will and we usually do; unfortunately, that is just not the case 100% of the time for all platforms. To PC gamers, we hope that between the Grand Theft Auto titles, and the forthcoming L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3, you’ll have plenty of great Rockstar action to enjoy.”
Sorry PC gamers, it looks like Rockstar won’t be sending any of Marston’s love your way. This wasn’t a definitive “no we won’t do it” answer by any means, but it’s quite clear that one of their best titles to date won’t be on PC anytime soon.

I would say to never count it out. It took Bully over two and a half years before it was finally sent to PC. Sometimes, they wait until it is technically viable, or when the license has been bled dry on other platforms.
That said, Bully ended up being an unoptimized piece of crap on PC, saved only by the great story and fantastic soundtrack.
I hope that Rockstar does put this on the PC because they’re alienating a large audience if they aren’t. Such a great game, RDR.
