When you’re a small company like Atlus, a couple thousand sales would make or break your company. For their first ever HD title, Atlus has done amazingly well. Their strange puzzle-action game Catherine sold about half a million copies worldwide, with huge success coming during its launch week.

According to figures released today by Atlus’ parent company Index Corporation, the numbers are definitely in their favor. Index is now calling Catherine a “big hit” for the company.

Not to be outdone, the Persona series was also mentioned by Index as being a strength of Atlus, with its cult following. It’s no surprise, given that Persona 2, Persona 3, and Persona 4 have all received PSP remakes. Persona 4 is even branching out into its own unique fighting game.
