Moments ago, Rockstar broadcast the debut trailer for Grand Theft Auto V.
The trailer, a widely anticipated video clocking in at just over 1:20, shows a location known as Vinewood — a location gamers will recognise as present in the popular San Andreas. Could this indicate the latest addition to the franchise will make a return to Los Santos?
It is unclear whether the player will resume the role of ‘CJ’ Carl Johnson, but one brief segment of the trailer shows a man running from the police who certainly fits the description of the popular protagonist, sporting CJ’s white tank top and black trousers.
The narrator of the trailer seems to have found himself in the typical Grand Theft Auto conundrum: a desire to lead a healthier, crime-free lifestyle hampered by the trappings of a criminal past. Exactly who we’re hearing, and what dark past he is trying to suppress remains to be seen.
See the trailer for yourself at Rockstar’s Official Website or check it out below.

The Vinewood sign, shown in the trailer, is a prominent feature of the same location in San Andreas.

I reckon there will definitely be a return to San Andreas. Whether or not it’s the main city in the game though, I’m not sure. Then again with the games release as far away as I’d assume, I think it’s only fair that Rockstar remain ambiguous for a while.
Anyone else spot the hobo-looking Nico at 0.59? harrr!
It looks like they are focusing more on Los Santos than the entire San Andreas realm. It is neat to see all these landmarks in the game and know that I drive by all of them on a regular basis. US Bank Tower for the win!
Still wish they would have gone back to the 80′s with Vice City. Still my all time, favorite GTA title.
Whatever they do, they need to make it better than GTA IV, as I was a bit disappointed by it, with the exception of the end of the Lost and the Damned DLC, all of Gay Tony and the video editor on the PC version.
