One of the standout features from this year’s new NBA 2K12 title has to be the NBA Legends that were added to the game. While the challenges themselves were not difficult, it was great to get a chance to play as a Bill Russell or a Magic Johnson in your games.
2K Sports is not sitting on their laurels with the success of this new mode, as they are getting a new DLC pack ready for the fall called The Legends Showcase. This new DLC package will add 45 more Legends to NBA 2K12, and a new New York City Basketball Blacktop located in the middle of Times Square. The new mode overlays the graphics with cell shading and offers up new team modes, H-O-R-S-E, 21 and other games.
While I like what 2K Sports is doing here, I do have to question some of the so called “Legends” that are in this pack. While I can totally get down with Yao Ming, Bob Cousey, Bob McAdoo, Rolando Blackman, Kevin Johnson and more, there are a few that will leave you scratching your head. Gheorge Muresan is now an NBA Legend, even though he is better known for being in that Billy Crystal move, My Giant. I loved the gritty nature of his play, but they included the human beanstalk, Shawn Bradley? Sure Fat Lever is nto a huge legend, but he gets a pass just on his awesome name. I understand that you want to pick some players that have name recognition, but including Gheorge Muresan in any Legend discussion is like thinking it is cool to pee into the wind.
