Chill Out with Square Enix’s “Winter of RPGs” Campaign

4 Nov, 2011

Christmas is less than eight weeks away, and Square Enix is already jingling the bells and bringing out the horse sleighs. In the latest Playstation blog post, Square Enix’s Product Manager Charles McCarter said that fans of classics will be in for a real treat this holiday season.

With Chrono Trigger already gracing the PSN, McCarter announced today that Trigger‘s successor Chrono Cross will be touching down very soon — “November 8th — just five days from now,” said McCarter. “You have been warned.”

Don’t stampede to your Playstation just yet. Retro-Final Fantasy fans are about to swoon, because McCarter has a few more aces up his sleeve. Due out on November 22nd is Final Fantasy V, which gives us all the time in the world to eat turkey while trying to save the world from Exdeath and finding crystals. We don’t mean the kinds that will make you trip uncontrollably.

Last but not least, one of Square Enix’s most revered old school RPGs (alongside Chrono Trigger of course) is coming to the PSN. Hint: the final enemy boss is pretty Dancing Mad. Say hello to Final Fantasy VI, arriving on December 6th.

Chomping at the bit already? Don’t forget that Skyrim releases in just a week. It’s like a Thanksgiving-sized RPG dinner, only your ability to manage time will be at an all-time low. Maybe you can get Crono to teach you some tricks.
