Gamasutra reports that World of Warcraft has lost 800,000 subscribers in the last three months, and about 1.7 million subscribers in the past year. Blizzard hopes that the recent Annual Agreement for a free copy of Diablo III will help things along.
Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime noted, “We know there are improvements that we can make in game content.” Well, it would probably be fair to say that reactions to upcoming expansion Mists of Pandaria have been somewhat mixed. Which is understandable when one considers that Cataclysm dealt with world-shattering changes and content updates, and now Blizzard is going to sell everyone on pandas and monks? It would be like Kubrick making Apocalypse Now 2: Journey to the Heart of Disneyland.
