Big Changes in Latest Xbox Live Update

Big Changes in Latest Xbox Live Update

6 Dec, 2011

Wanted that whole cloud thing for the Xbox 360? How about better Facebook posting, or telling people what game you were playing so they can join up? Consider your wish come true, as the latest Xbox Live update, releasing tomorrow, will give you just that.

Perhaps the biggest update is the Cloud Profile feature, available to Gold Members only. If you ever had that issue where you were playing your game on your friend’s console but forgot to bring your profile along, you had to stop and recover your tag. Say goodbye to recovery times, as the “new roaming profiles” will allow you to sign into any Xbox to access game save files. Friends list and Gold membership management can be accessed too, including adding more MSP to your account.

And of course, with everyone running their lives on social networking, what better sense than to debut the new Beacons? Once signed in to Xbox LIVE, these “beacons” will tell both your XBL friends and Facebook friends that you’re online and want to play a game. You will also be notified of friends who play similar games, when they’re playing, or if they want to play the same games right that moment.

Sure, the newest update will probably make things seem pretty Kinect-centric with the added Voice Search controls, but there’s still plenty to get excited about for those of us who can’t afford it or have no space for the motion-sensor.

If you’re wondering when your region will see the update go live, read this event time chart as posted by Major Nelson.
