“The Stranger’s Dream” DLC for Bastion Announced

10 Dec, 2011

Supergiant Games love their fans, and they want to show their appreciation. The studio responsible for the phenomenal Bastion announced earlier today that for Fan Appreciation, they’ll be releasing a piece of DLC entitled “The Stranger’s Dream” on December 14th.

Centered around the story of the enigmatic Rucks, Supergiant promises that the new DLC is “a new fully narrated Who Knows Where sequence, bigger and more challenging than the others. You’ll gain a bit more insight into Rucks’ backstory as well as the history of Caelondia if you can survive this fight.”

The DLC will feature not only a new challenge arena in Who Knows Where, but will also have a “Score Attack Mode” and a “No-Sweat Mode.” The Score Attack Mode introduces scoring based on how well you performed in each level, much like Gears of War 3‘s Arcade Mode. The No-Sweat Mode presents a mode that’s easier than easy, designed to draw players into the wonderfully artistic and narrative game.

Unfortunately, The Stranger’s Dream won’t be available to players unless they complete the game at least once through. Players on Steam, the Google Chrome version, or other PC versions of the game, can download the game for free. XBLA players must spend 80MSP (or the equivalent of $1.00 USD) to download the title. According to Supergiant’s Greg Kasavin, that was the closest they could get to free under Microsoft’s policy.
