While I loathe the Spike VGA awards as a farce towards real gamers, I do have to admit that they did a decent job with making them feel a bit more in touch with actual gamers. I also love the fact that game companies use this space to breakout new titles for the upcoming year. One such company was Remedy which showed off the first sneak peak for their new Alan Wake title, Alan Wake’s American Nightmare.
This new Alan Wake title is going to use new and created assets for the first Alan Wake title, but bring it to the small stage on the Xbox Live Marketplace, echoing a strategy that might have made the first title more popular if it had come there in episodic format.
New players will be able to jump into this new story without playing the first, but you really would be doing yourself a disservice if you skip it. No pricing or release details have been given for Alan Wake American Nightmare, but we do know if should release Q1 in 2012 on XBLA. Check out the new trailer for the game below.
