Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will be anything but great in many gamers’ opinions. While some are still busy trying to decide whether they’ll like it or not, Platinum Games’ executive director Atsushi Inaba had a few words to say on Twitter in regards to his company’s involvement with the title.
“It seems there are some who wish to imply PlatinumGames was able to achieve what Kojima Productions could not — interviewers among them,” wrote Inaba. “This notion is spurious. Clearly, we have not yet produced any results in the world of Metal Gear.”
The proverbial bomb was dropped during the VGAs on Saturday as Konami made their big announcement, followed by a trailer that possibly made Michael Bay look like an amateur. The sudden switch in development teams was kept under wraps as well, and Inaba said Kojima Productions’ decision was a gamble.
“Mr. Kojima tossed his chips on our table, believing we could handle the task,” said Inaba. “In other words, he took a gamble.”
With the change of the title as well, Inaba explained that this doesn’t reflect any significant changes within the game. “I know reaction to the new trailer is mixed,” he said. “Yet I also believe our love and respect shines through.
“It is my hope that you catch a glimpse of the future in the footage. In order to achieve that evolution, that future, we at PlatinumGames will continue to fight, shedding our own blood, sweat, and tears.”
The game is due for release next year on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
