While I am a sucker for the holiday dinners and present swapping that occurs during the holiday season, there is one thing that is marked in red on my calendar this time a year that sticks out among all other things – The Steam Holiday Sale. The Steam Holiday events over the year started as a neat way to pick up a few titles and have turned into the one thing that I want to do with my holiday gifts. I used to make up a list for friends and family to tell them what to get me for Christmas, but now, the list is simple – CASH FOR STEAM HOLIDAY SALE.
This year, the event is going the way of the Perils of Summer, with a contest where you can earn gifts or coal based on achievements that you get in games on the site. Some will give you new little trinkets for Team Fortress 2, while others are promising the possibility of full on free games from the service.
