REVIEW: Modern Warfare 3 Strategy Guide
Title: Modern Warfare 3
Format: Strategy Guide
Publisher: Brady Games, Activision
For the die-hard Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 fan, this will be your strategy guide of choice. With a a lot of pretty sturdy pages, this guide will be sitting on your shelf for a long time if you’re into that thing. It also makes for a good collector’s piece if you’re also into that sort of thing.
All silliness aside though, this guide wastes no time in getting down to business. We’re not even talking about defeating the Huns in this certain instance. This guide will tell you everything you need to know, including location of enemy intel items for achievements, and what the best route is to achieving level-specific achievements.
I’m not one for using strategy guides, but this guide was really great to have, especially since I’m terrible at fast-paced FPS games such as Modern Warfare 3. At the beginning of each campaign stage, the guide takes a moment to highlight the major points that you need to keep in mind in order to survive. Points of caution and tactical suggestions will help you out immensely, especially if you can’t figure out which way to go or how to take care of that big tank that’s throwing artillery at you.
Before the start of each mission as well, the guide provides an overview map of the area. While it might look a little silly out of context from the game, it gives those of us who like visuals an idea of where your operative is positioned in relation to the end goal of the chapter. It also shows, where in relation to your objectives, are pieces of collectibles in order to gain the enemy intel achievement. Achievement whores, lament no more with this guide.
Another thing that the guide does is caution the more sensitive audience of when a potentially offensive scene is coming up. Like previous Modern Warfare titles, MW3 doesn’t shy away from potentially offending people, and the guide does a nice job of saying such an instance is coming up. Look away now, and you won’t feel prickly.
That’s only talking about the main Campaign section of the guide book. It also provides a list of all available achievements, how to tackle the Spec Ops mode, and an extensive multiplayer section. The Hardened Edition also comes with a little stand up of all the multiplayer maps, and these maps are tell-alls. With a small legend to show where spawn points, CTF flags, domination flags, and everything else is in each location, the player with this stand up will have a definite edge over the competition. Flipping the maps over will also give you an idea of how each map’s objectives are positioned with the selection of different modes.
All in all, this strategy guide is a must-have for any Modern Warfare 3 competitive player. It’s also nice to have if you want a definitive strategy guide that will help you find everything you need to find. If ever you needed help getting an achievement in the game or you just want to know how people can figure out where you’re spawning, well, this is the thing to have by your side.
The Modern Warfare 3 Hardened Edition strategy guide is currently available at major gaming retailers.
