Fans of the survival horror genre will be pleasantly surprised by this download-only title. French developer Vector Cell announced earlier today that their game, AMY, has been completed and will become available for download.
According to their latest Facebook post, Vector Cell has said that the PSN version of the game in the United States will be downloadable on January 10th for the price of $12.99 USD (£7.99 in the UK, €9.9 in Europe). AMY will be available for worldwide download on both the PSN and Xbox Live on January 11th. Oddly enough, the XBLA pricing is only 800 points, which is far cheaper than the $12.99 price tag placed on the PSN download.
AMY is the story of Lana, a woman infected by an unknown disease that became widespread after a meteor crashed into Earth. During the course of her story, Lana begins to change into the terrifying zombies that roam the streets of Silver City, the site of the meteor crash. Her only savior? A little girl named Amy, whose unexplained powers have been hinted to be connected to her autism. Director Paul Cuisset said that players will eventually learn the story behind Amy’s powers.
The game promises to have some terrifying moments. Vector Cell explained in a PlayStation Blog post that part of the draw for the game is to have players feel the “fragility” of both Lana and Amy — Lana isn’t a trained fighter, and Amy is only a child of about seven or eight years old. While you can attempt to shoot or hit an enemy, sometimes the only way to avoid death or detection is to hide and hope that whatever it is out there will ignore you and move on.
So if you’re looking for a good scare for a budget price, come explore Silver City. And don’t be scared of the dark.
