With CES in full swing, we do not get a huge amount of gaming announcements, but sometimes we do get interesting announcements from gaming companies that could go somewhere in the future. One of these announcements was from OnLive, the cloud based game company.
OnLive has announced a new app for the iPad and soon to be other Android tablets and most smartphones. Called OnLive Desktop, it is an app that will set you up with a full blown, Windows 7 virtualized desktop, all running through the cloud, and availble with a full suite of Office applications. The interface works with gesture commands and with a solid Internet connection, can function like a mobile Windows desktop. No need for a bulky laptop, when you can just get the same experience on your small, portable tablet.
Yes, it is not gaming related, it could lead to the next innovation, like having your entire computer system sit in the cloud, with all your games, apps and more availble from a simple app like this.
