Ubisoft Decides to Release Rayman Origins on PC, Finally

26 Jan, 2012

Ubisoft has announced today that its colorful, commercially ignored platfomer Rayman Origins is coming to PC on March 31st, 2012. The release will feature all the gameplay that has been found in the console versions, but with support for higher resolutions as well as mouse and keyboard support. Rayman Origins will be released digitally as well in a retail box in both Europe and the US. Digital outlets have not been confirmed beyond the Ubishop, but I would assume it will show up on Steam, Direct2Drive and others upon release.

I do have to admit that I am very happy that a PC version of Rayman Origins is coming out now. What irritates me about the whole process is Ubisoft with their planned decision to release PC versions of titles weeks to months after they come to the console. I know they want to capitalize on the money console sales bring in, but when a title that has become the Beyond Good and Evil of 2011, you would think they would want to get any money they can. The game was put on shelves during a crazy week, against another huge Ubisoft franchise and is now being sold on consoles for $20 instead of its full price. Thanks Ubi for releasing this game on PC, but couldn’t we have had it in November 2011?
