Codemasters has released a new batch of screens and a new trailer for their upcoming arcade racing/demolition derby title, Dirt Showdown. The new entry in the Dirt franchise is not a new direction for the franchise, but an offshoot of the series, as Dirt 4 is still going to happen as a separate entitity. This bodes well for people like myself that want more rally in their Dirt title and less Gymkhana.
The new trailer for Dirt Showdown shows off the 8-Ball track, which is more commonly referred to as a Crazy 8, or a Suicide 8 track. Basically, we have a track that is configured like the number eight, and as you can imagine, mayhem and havok can happen at the center of that track when traffic crosses through it. The damange and graphics look really good, and the idea of a less restrictive and serious title in the Dirt franchise can work. Just keep all this stuff here and I think everyone is happy Codemasters.
Dirt Showdown is set to arrive on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in May 2012 from Codemasters.
