For those of us who were smart enough to stop and play through the original Darksiders game would have been treated to quite the treat. Kill all the enemies in a room to unlock the door? Have to push bricks into the right places to activate all the puzzles and such? Sounds a lot like Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda, and Darksiders‘ creator and comic book artist Joe Madureira says he has quite the thing for that series. As if we couldn’t tell if the first Darksiders drew many an influence from the types of puzzles found and the kinds of dungeons you had to explore.
Yeah, a lot of us probably would have said Darksiders was a Zelda clone, but it was a damn fun game. In an interview with CVG, Madureira said that he was a big fan of Zelda, and would definitely want to work on a comic book for that game.
“I’m a big fan of Legend of Zelda, so you know, I would probably like to work on a comic book based on that,” said Madureira. “But we have a Darksiders comic book that will hopefully come out at some point. Right now, all of our energy is focused on finishing Darksiders II.”
So…why hasn’t this comic book happened yet? If it involves a deluge of gold, rupees, cash, or all of the above to come flowing down in a waterfall, Nintendo had better get on that. Right now.
