Kinect Star Wars Forces its Way into the Market this April

7 Feb, 2012

Get your air-lightsabers ready, Kinect Star Wars hits UK shelves on the 3rd April. Not only that, there’s a console bundle so if for some reason you wanted a 360 but still haven’t managed to get one you can get yourself the full set of Kinect, 360, and Kinect Star Wars for just under £350. The new announcements include space battles, landspeeders and speeder bikes, and duels against Count Dooku and the man himself: Darth Vader. As well as this there’s a full dueling mode to go with Podracing, Rancor Rampage, and the Jedi Destiny mode. The last and final mode is (sigh…) Galactic Dance Off. Sometimes, LucasArts, you do yourself no favours. If you buy the console bundle you get the glorious reward of an unlockable C3PO for the dance mode.

Right, enough withering disdain from me. This game is in 3D which might be pretty cool. Most importantly though, you get to swing a lightsaber if you’re a 360 owner. Something which has been sadly missing from the overwhelming repertoire that Microsoft has to offer. The Duel mode genuinely sounds cool, and who knows, maybe the main game will be awesome. Podracing should be, well it’s either going to take the obvious route and be Wipeout Kinect (and therefore great) or it might just get it wrong. We shall see. It’s £40 on release so start those flailing movements and get your Chewbacca impressions in order.

Okay now that’s done there are two things I need to get off my chest. Firstly, I know lightsabers are cool, but Han Solo is my favourite character and if all the Star Wars games are going to be about Jedi then there’s not much room for me to fanboy out is there? Secondly, here’s an insight into press releases for anyone who is interested. At the top and bottom of the announcement for this game is a plug to go and see a film coming out which you can probably guess the name of. I shan’t tell you it because you might pay for a ticket and I wouldn’t wish that upon you. The film was abysmal and making it 3D won’t fix that. But still…Star Wars video games are pretty good. I liked the Battlefront games and I know SWTOR has its critics but from what I’ve seen it looks pretty fun. Here’s hoping Kinect Star Wars is a keeper.
