Microsoft Flight Ready to Soar on February 29th

It has been through a rigorous beta test with the community and now, Microsoft is ready for Microsoft Flight to release to consumers on February 29th, 2012. Microsoft Flight is a return to the flight simulator arena that the company once dominated oh so many years ago, but since Flight Simulator X released in 2004, the property had been left dormant.

Now in 2012, we have Microsoft Flight a free to play game that will cater to the masses, from those that want to just fly around and have fun, to the hardcore flight sim fantatic that wants to have control over every dynamic of flying a plane.

Microsoft Flight is going to use the same model as the last product released for PC from Microsoft Games, with an initial segment of gameplay available for free, but additional areas will be avaiable for download at a cost. More planes will also become available for an extra fee as well.

I am not sure how successful Age of Empires was in the long run, but it seems to have been successful enough to spawn off a second “freemium” type game from the publisher. Check out the new developer diary below that talks about the aircraft that you will see in Microsoft Flight.
