It seems BioWare have started to talk about those iOS apps we mentioned a couple of weeks back when the co-op trailer was released. We now have some early details on what these apps will be and how they will affect Mass Effect 3.
It appears that two apps are prepped for launch as part of the Galactic Readiness rating within the new game. The first – Mass Effect Infiltrator – is a third person shooter where you liberate prisoners from Cerberus facilities. You’ll also be able to use your biotic powers in this game and uncover evidence on the organisations shady goings on. This will be available on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
Those among you with an iPad will get another app titled Mass Effect Datapad – the exclusivity of which is kind of given away by the name, I guess. The Datapad will be less game focus and allow you to keep track of the readiness of the galaxy – get the theme here? You will also, however, have a mini game allowing you to deploy troops to fight the Reapers. Word is you’ll also have interactions with your squad using the Datapad.
No date has been given on when these will be available as yet – hopefully we’ll get more news soon. This news however makes me now wish I had an iPad and might have to collect some money together just for this. If you haven’t guessed from that I’m very much looking forward to Mass Effect 3 – the game releases in America on 6th March and Europe 9th March.
