DCUO inches closer to defeating Brainiac

DCUO inches closer to defeating Brainiac

The third paid-DLC pack is on the way for DC Universe Online. “The Battle for Earth” will be available March 13 for PC and PS3 players, free for players of Legendary status and available for purchase for those on Free or Premium accounts. The content includes a new power set (earth – so you can be just like Geo-Force without being an insufferable royal clown in an ugly costume!) and it “sets up the ultimate showdown with Brainiac.”

“With The Battle for Earth one war will come to a head, while another begins as we introduce a new chapter to the larger DCUO story,” said Jens Andersen, DC Universe Online Creative Director, Sony Online Entertainment. “TheBattle for Earth also has so much new action to jump in to including a massive Raid where you fight Brainiac’s final Avatar – the Avatar of Magic, new Duos, a new Alert and lots of new fighting to do in South Gotham.”

You can read about the rest of the new content here.

Now, I’ve been a big booster of DCUO, even though the game has outpaced my ability to play it. I blasted through my 30 levels of solo play and had a great time, but I’ve found I completely suck at all this “endgame” content. The one time I tried the missions in the Green Lantern DLC, I could not walk more than five steps across the street before getting slaughtered by Red Lanterns. And my combat rating is under the threshold required for the Flash DLC missions, so I can’t even attempt those.

So, for me, I sort of resent that I will probably not be able to see the final result of the Brainiac storyline. Don’t get me wrong, I know this is MY problem because I’m apparently a terrible MMO player… but still, it would be cool if the game had a way to keep singletons like me in the game.

Go ahead, berate me in comments. I also think Skyrim sucks.
