Double Fine Adventure Funding Finishes at $3.3m

Double Fine Adventure Funding Finishes at $3.3m

The Tim Schafer month-long love-fest is over, and with 87,142 participants, I’m part of an adventure game loving fraternity. Put together the total raised by all those backing the kickstarter campaign reaches $3,336,371. Truly astonishing. It seems the passion for being the independent backers of projects is one the internet latches on to. When you add to that the backers that gave so much that Kickstarter couldn’t handle the payment the total is $3,445,355.

Now that the campaign is successful you’ll have the money you pledged removed from your account and suddenly that wildly generous donation becomes a huge regret, but at least you’ll get a cool reward for it. For most of us, without the money, we’ll get a copy of the game or at least a copy of the documentary of its failure. For the four people who pledged $10,000 or more, they’ve won themselves lunch with Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert.

So when can we expect to see anything for our money? Well, that’s very demanding of you. But there’ll be forums soon, more video updates, and we are expecting something in October of this year. Whether this will be as much as a beta is uncertain, but we’re looking forward to something big.

All About Dan Spicer ...

Dan does "What Dan Does", normally involving screwing over the premise of the game just to have fun. When he's not being obnoxious in video games he's doing the same when playing tabletop RPGs and Magic: The Gathering. He's currently studying philosophy in London, and trying to cook as many pancakes as humanly possible.
