Assassin’s Creed III Looks to Sell a Hell of a Lot of Copies

Assassin’s Creed III Looks to Sell a Hell of a Lot of Copies

If those pre-order numbers aren’t a Templar lie, then Ubisoft is looking pretty amongst the competition this coming October. We’re not talking just a little. We’re talking a lot. Like, astronomically a lot.

According to a press release from Ubisoft, the company said that Assassin’s Creed III has already more than 10 times the U.S. pre-order total of what Assassin’s Creed: Revelations has had in the same time period. Here’s a little reality check: Revelations is currently the most pre-ordered Ubisoft title.

While it’s not enough to make the Reapers stir in dark space, ACIII is right now on track to meet and beat Revelations‘ total sales on pre-orders alone. All this is supposed to happen by the time E3 comes up in early June.

“After only three weeks of the game being available for pre-order in North America, Assassin’s Creed III has made history for Ubisoft in North America with reserves for the title being higher than any previous Assassin’s Creed game in the same time period,” read the Ubisoft press release. “Assassin’s Creed III has more than 10 times the U.S. pre-order total that Assassin’s Creed Revelations had in the same time period, and the game has already reached Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood’s life-to-date U.S. pre-order total. Assassin’s Creed III is on track to match the life-to-date U.S. pre-order figures for Ubisoft’s previously most pre-ordered game, Assassin’s Creed Revelations, by E3 in June.”

Assassin’s III is looking to blow out the competition this fall. Along with three years of work, Ubisoft is planning a massive marketing stint to bring the anticipation to full-blown hype. It might just even compete with Halo 4‘s building excitement.

“On October 30th players will experience the biggest game launch in Ubisoft’s history with the highly anticipated release of Assassins Creed III,” said Tony Key, Senior VP of Sales and Marketing for Ubisoft. “With a development cycle of three years, Assassins Creed III is the true next-generation experience of the Assassins Creed brand. The production value of the game, combined with the biggest marketing commitment we’ve ever made, will make Assassin’s Creed III the highest-selling Assassin’s Creed game ever.

“Additionally, the new setting and hero makes this the perfect time to jump into the series for anyone that has not previously played an Assassin’s Creed game.”
