God of War IV Is God of War: Ascension

According to Sony’s Facebook page, it’s official – they have announced a new God of War! Following their announcement was Amazon’s release of the cover art as well.

Apart from the above teaser trailer, leaked line this morning, there’s no other information just yet. Sony is expected to reveal much more at this year’s E3 video game show in Los Angeles in June.

Coming out on the PS3 but no release date has been set yet, this title will be a prequel to the God of War trilogy, following Spartan warrior Kratos before he starts the war with the Gods of Ancient Greece. This game will give us a closer look at the origins of Kratos “as he takes his first steps on a now legendary quest for freedom,” promises the press release.
